December. Just when I felt it couldn´t get any darker the light appeared.
If there is any time of the year when the contrast between darkness and light is at its peak, it must be now. I said to my daughter the other day that I was beginning to feel the impact of the winter darkness! The next day when I came home she had decorated the bush outside my house with lights. They were actually the lights meant for our Xmas tree but I was deeply touched.
There is always darkness and light in our lives. Sometimes the darkness is just a shadow barely felt or visible whilst the light shines bright. Sometimes the darkness lingers so heavily that a glimpse of light is barely seen or felt.
Where is light in your life right now?
If this is difficult to answer, please speak to someone you trust. Darkness dwells happily in silence. For many, reaching out can be the first step to opening the door for a touch of light to break through again.
I can´t promise a Xmas fairy to appear with some lights on your front door. I do know that speaking up and seeking out help is something most of us will have to do in our lifetime. I had to. Don’t stay in your darkness alone please.
To less darkness and more light this time of year.
