Can you imagine a seesaw that was always perfectly balanced in the middle? This is often how we wish our lives were.
Do you remember as a child the joy of balancing high in the air as your friend furiously clung to the ground below? Or when your friend pushed their feet hard off the ground to go flying in the high and you hurdled downwards? Do you remember how you loved looking down and looking up?
Sometimes in life, we are flying high. Everything seems to be going our way, or at least many parts of our life. At other times, our lives feel heavy, we feel down and the view upwards to those flying high does not give us any bit of joy.
Most of the time, we are neither high nor low but somewhere in the middle, never perfectly balanced, but slightly higher or slightly lower. We are often working on rebalancing, finding the `right´ place for us, where we thrive best. But even that is not static. We are constantly changing, and we are constantly re-adjusting.
Remember the highs will not last, and neither will the lows. You know this, because you have never been only high or only low in life. You have experienced both. And we grow out of both. Try not to cling to either.
Life would not be any fun if we just sat with our friend looking across at each other on the perfectly balanced seesaw . We would die of boredom and jump off to find fun somewhere else!
Can you find peace knowing that both the highs and the lows are necessary and valuable?
Can you imagine a seesaw that was always perfectly balanced in the middle?
No, I can´t either.
Change is constant. And we are always finding our way. Up and down and all the in-betweens.
